Episode 005: Leadership, Perspective & Being “On the Agenda”

Leadership today requires more than authority—it demands perspective, collaboration, and the ability to navigate constant change.

In this episode of UNSTUCK, Tim Terrentine sits down with Darlene King Turner, CEO and President of The Unity Collaborative, to explore what it truly means to lead people forward in uncertain times.

Drawing from her upbringing in Detroit and her global leadership experience, Darlene introduces the concept of the “mosaic”—the idea that real strength comes from blending diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices.

She challenges leaders to rethink their role:
Are you reacting to change—or helping shape it?

In this episode, you’ll explore:

  • The difference between being on the agenda vs. on the menu

  • Why perspective is critical to effective leadership

  • How collaboration drives innovation and resilience

  • The importance of vulnerability and feedback in leadership

  • How to engage the next generation of leaders

  • Why leadership is about building others—not controlling outcomes

Darlene also shares insights into her work developing future leaders through global youth engagement programs connected to the United Nations.

This episode is a call to lead with intention, courage, and responsibility.

Because the future of leadership belongs to those willing to step outside themselves—and build something bigger.
